Anne-Françoise Bélanger

I am a professional, self-taught painter, trained in structures of artistic experience supervised by professionals. With a degree in psychoeducation and psychotherapy, along with a career as a speaker / manager, I began my training in drawing and painting in 1989 while living in the United States. When I returned to Quebec
in 1994, I continued my training in painting with Madame Jeanned'Arc Trudel from the Tirelou studio in Trois-Rivières to develop the abstract-expressive style now common in my works. Retired from the health and social services sector in 2013, I embarked on a full-time career as a painter. By moving to the Montreal area, I was able to attend the Atelier du Geste de Montreal from 2013 to 2020, the painting program at the Academy of Fine Arts of Montreal (ACADEM) from 2017 to 2019 to now devote myself in my training at Carol Bernier workshops since 2018. I participate in a weekly painting / creation workshop at Studio Bizz in Montreal.
Professional artist member of the Regroupement des artistes visuels du Québec (RAAV), of ARTxTERRA, listed in the Directory of artists and artisans of St-Lambert, I have accumulated in my experience 4 solo exhibitions and several group exhibitions with or without a jury.
I am still strongly inspired by the work of Marcelle Ferron to name just one. My brush sometimes surprises me by remembering the impastos of Borduas. The current of the fifties/sixties cradled my childhood (and my taste for oil as a medium) on the walls of the living room of my house in Saguenay, whose beauty was illustrated by the unforgettable work of René (Richard and Gagnon) of the neighborhood.
