Yvon Blain is a self-taught painter born in Sainte-Julie, Quebec, Canada. He began to show an interest in drawing at the age of 11. Over the years, his passion grew and by the time he was 16, he knew that he would dedicate his life to painting.
“I paint to express my innermost passion for creation. I’ve always felt a deep calling for this type of art. Going into my studio is like walking towards the unknown, I let my instincts guide me. I search for a trace of time, a trace of emotion, the fragility of what is felt and internal dialogue.”
From the very beginning, Yvon Blain has been developing the art of portraiture, which is a great source of inspiration. A sensitive, observant and intuitive person, he takes in the emotions he sees in the eyes of others. Authenticity is what drives his work and his goal is to show true, raw emotion through his paintings.
The artist works out of his studio in the Rosemont area of Montreal where he currently focuses on mixed medium and acrylic. Blain has accomplished a lot over the past 40-plus years: he recently participated in international exhibitions in New York, London, Hong Kong, and Miami. With more than 75 exhibitions until now, he has sold paintings to art lovers and collectors from Canada, the United States and Europe. He has also created book covers and was the recipient of numerous awards at national visual arts competitions.
The creation and production of 6 major paintings for Céline Dion’s show in 2002 at the Casears Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas was pivotal in helping him make a name for himself at the international level, and he is now working to have his artistic creations shown around the world.
