Marie-Josée Roy

Marie-Josée was born in Trois-Rivières in 1968 and graduated in Visual Arts from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières in 1992. Metal is truly her favorite medium to express all the poetry that emerges from her artworks. With each strike of the hammer, sander and brush stroke, she knows how to transform metal combining photographs, oil ink, engraving to create characters tinted with humanity. Her sculptures, whether they are metallic, forged, welded or cast, are stunning. ''With fire and metal, hot and cold at the same time, Marie-Josée Roy unravels all thought that unites opposed essences. She externalizes the inwardness of the human being.'' Marie-Josée Roy participated in many exhibitions namely in New York, Boston and Miami as well as in several cities across Canada.
