Michel Lafrance
Originating from Québec City, Michel Lafrance studied in Environmental Design and Plastic Arts at the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal and at the Université du Québec in Montréal (UQÀM). He worked in visual arts for many Montreal institutions, namely Encadrex and the Guilde graphique where he established the framing service and coordinated the layout of the artworks for the gallery as well as for the collections of numerous public and private firms. His experience as a printer for renowned engraving artists inspired him to pursue a personal journey in engraving. For a few years, Michel Lafrance has dedicated himself exclusively to his production, exploring various forms of expression in engraving and painting. He attempts, through an abstract sensitivity. to freely express his impressions with a direct and intuitive use of materials, seeking to obtain a balance between contradictory elements: spontaneity and structure, light and darkness. His artworks are part of numerous private collections.
