Thérèse Joannette

Thérèse Joannette started painting in 1965 with Brother Jérôme at Atelier La Partance (La Partance workshop), a creative environment. During several years, she attended this workshop and with time, her themes strengthened and took shape. She took classes and participated in many courses with other great professional artists. These classes, courses and workshops stimulated her quest, enriched her practice. Thérèse also participated in individual and collective exhibitions. In 2000-2001, she exhibited at Galerie Perspectives in Pont-Aven, in Britain, among others. In 2001-2002, she took a course on abstraction with Françoise Sullivan at Concordia University. The same year, she received an honourable mention in a competition at Maison des arts in Saint-Faustin. In summer 2004, she received the first jury's prize during the Mont-Tremblant Visual Arts Week and in summer 2005, she was awarded a mention for her body of work in Mont-Tremblant. Presently, Thérèse favours acrylic. ?Bird shapes' and characters are most often created with her brush. Sometimes, the subject completely disappears and is replaced by forms and colours that are her trademark.
