Yves Gaucher was born in Montreal on January 3, 1934 and died there on September 8, 2000. His avant-garde work in etching and abstract painting earned him numerous international awards and a very enviable notoriety.  Yves Gaucher was considered one of the greatest Canadian abstract painters of the second half of the 20th century. His artworks can be found in various collections such as Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal, Art Gallery of Ontario and Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal.
