Anne Savage ARC/RCA

Anne Savage was a landscape painter born in Montreal on July 27, 1896 and she died there on March 25, 1971.  Educated at the Art Association of Montreal and at the Minneapolis School of Design in Minnesota (USA), she participated in the foundation of the Beaver Hall Group alongside A. Y. Jackson among others, the Canadian Group of Painters in 1933 as well as the Contemporary Arts Society in 1939.  Anne Savage taught at Baron Byng High School (1922-1948), at the Art Association of Montreal to children on Saturdays and at McGill University (1954-1959).  Throughout her career, she participated in numerous exhibitions both in Canada and abroad. The main themes of her artworks were Québec landscapes, particularly from the Laurentians region.
