Marc Léger

Born and raised in the Outaouais region, I have strived to create since childhood.  This passion led me to the Ottawa School of Art where I explored various techniques.  Then gradually, painting became my favorite form of expression. While there, I participated in numerous group exhibitions and at the end of my studies, I exhibited in various galleries, namely Espace 33, Saw Gallery and Corbeau bleu.

Putting my family life first, for more than a decade I dedicated myself to carpentry which allowed me to acquire other perspectives regarding textures of various materials and their different possibilities. During this period, I also observed the work of other artists and my reflection about art matured. In 2016, I took an advanced drawing class at the Ottawa School of Art in order to dive back into creation and since then, I returned, on solid ground, to my first passions: painting and sculpture.

For the last two years, I have been working on the Lignes (Lines) series where moments are captured and put on pause. These oil landscapes highlight the expressiveness of lines that carve the space in both a strong and subtle way. In this series which will still develop over numerous phases, each artwork reflects the movement of the landscape and catches an instant in the Outaouais area. These artworks invite a personal and intimate encounter with the Grande Rivière banks which I know very well from my sailing and regatta years.
