Michel Coveney
Bachelor in architecture, teacher in the field, and self-taught artist, my work has always been closely connected to areas associated with creativity. At first occasionally, and now continuously, sculpture has become the core of this creative journey.
Through my works, I seek to express a minimalist aesthetic inspired by the beauty and emotion found in everyday life. In naivety, love, tenderness, hope, desire, courage, and so many other feelings or attitudes, there exists a diffuse beauty—sometimes sketched, sometimes omnipresent—that unites us. It can be found, for instance, in the memory of a family scene, the gestures of a passionate couple, the learning of a child, the movement of a posture, or a fleeting moment.
The primary aim of my sculptures is to share the emotion born of this beauty—so essential to happiness, to daily well-being, or simply to the privilege of savoring a moment.
In all simplicity, keeping only the essence of the form for the subject and leaving what is missing to the imagination, I strive to reach this inspiring beauty through the delicacy of curves, the softness of a smooth surface, and the balance found within asymmetry.
