Isabelle Lockwell

Originating from Québec City, Isabelle Lockwell graduated from Laval University in Plastic Arts (1994) and in Plastic Arts and Music Teaching (1997). Very active on the Québec cultural scene, she contributed to the visual recognition of Les Gros Becs Youth Theatre in Québec and France. Her artworks, featuring radiant colours, embody symbols that refer to her interior world and can be interpreted in various ways by the viewer. She established her symbolic style after her two-year stay in Aticamekw territory. Thus, a house, a target, a leaf, a bird and a ladder are symbols that are an integral part of her pictorial space. Isabelle Lockwell is permanently represented in Québec galleries and her artworks are found in public and private collections in Québec, the United States and Europe.
