Renée du Rocher

Born in Granby in 1939, artist Renée du Rocher attended the École des Beaux-Arts from 1958 to 1960 and in 1986, she graduated in visual arts from UQÀM (Université du Québec in Montreal). Torn between several roles, among which the role of mother (she has four daughters), spouse, teacher and student, Renée du Rocher succeeded by her determination to impose on herself a strong personal discipline and to pursue her career as a painter. She taught painting and drawing in Granby from 1974 to 1990 after which, she decided to commit on a full-time basis to her true passion: painting. With over 20 years of experience, du Rocher favours oil and mixed techniques on canvas or hand crafted paper of which she is quite found. She participated in over thirty solo and collective exhibitions in Canada, the United States, Italy and France. Her work is represented permanently in several galleries in Canada and in the United States. It is also part of major corporate collections.
