
Claude Dulude ARC
Claude Dulude was born in Montreal in 1931 and died there in 1999. He first studied at the École des beaux-arts de Montréal and pursued his artistic training in Paris with Johnny Friedlander, a master of etching. A painter and engraver, he explored various techniques such as etching, pastel, sculpture and acrylic on canvas and paper. He participated in numerous exhibitions in Montreal and was particularly noticed in a solo exhibition in 1965. For many years, he worked as an art teacher at Cégep du Vieux-Montréal and also as director of the Department of Visual Arts. Dulude was the recipient of several scholarships namely from the Canada Council for the Arts, the ministère des Affaires culturelles du Québec and ministère de l’Industrie et du Commerce du Québec. He was appointed a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts and his artworks, inspired by his love of nature and music, can be found in numerous private and public collections.
