Rémi Filion
Born in Kiamika, a village in the Québec Laurentians, this Montreal painter has been pursuing his artistic career for over twenty years. In 1979, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design. His experience as a graphic designer and illustrator naturally led to painting. At the same time, he dabbled in various branches of art such as sculpture, ceramics, silkscreen and engraving which enriched his artistic approach. ‘’My painting speaks of light and matter which blend freely in the creative process. In my abstract, through my exploration of shapes, colours and textures, I try to give a sensitive presence to the painting, a powerful interior reality. My more or less structured compositions connect with our interior state of mind and our feelings.’’ ‘’While creating, I seek to share my vision of the world in all its complexity, depth and emotion. I like to paint large bright movements that come from nowhere; they often take a vertical direction; they vibrate and open up.’’ Rémi Filion regularly exhibits and his artworks can be found in numerous galleries in Québec and Ontario. He has many individual and collective exhibitions, and his paintings are part of private collections.
