Yves Ayotte

Ayotte was born March 4, 1955 in Bois-des-Filion,in the Laurentian region of Quebec. The first son of Marcel Ayotte (police officer) and cousin of the painter Leo Ayotte and wife Georgette Pellerin.

The Ayotte family moved to Trois-Rivières in 1960. As a hobby in 1978 some oils on canvas later, he then studied at the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières to obtain a degree in art.

To fill his need for freedom, he obtains his wings in 1984 and hovers large areas of Quebec in his seaplane. Ayotte began a rewarding period; he painted hundreds of canvases in otherwise inaccessible places. In 2003 following a pilot error, he crashes and no longer flies.

Inspired by the pictorial prominence, Ayotte abandons the brush in 2001 and opts for the painting knife.

In gallery for over fifteen years, he changes unexpectedly. Ayotte realizes flamboyant works of art, of expressionist style with abstract tendencies.

Ayotte expresses the unconscious; for him, the key lies in automation. Ayotte said "I do not paint, I meet myself to understand myself.
